Sweet Minerals was born in January 2011 when three strangers met for lunch and walked away Partners.
Founders, Candace Maurer, Christine Marriner and Heather Lins were each frustrated with the quality of mineral cosmetics previously on the market, little did they know they were about to attend their divine appointment. Maurer and Lins, both Licensed Estheticians and Makeup Artists had been previously working as a team testing the quality of several mineral makeup brands. Exhausting all of their options, they decided to create their own line when Lins met Marriner at a local sports event. Lins arranged a lunch meeting for the trio at a local Chicago Uno’s Pizzeria. Marriner, who began formulating in 2007 had created a full line of mineral cosmetics, brought samples to the meeting, and after hours of talking and testing formulas the three formed an immediate partnership.

In 2005 she went to a home party and loved the idea of direct sales and making money through partying so she joined an International direct sales beauty company and loved it! She wanted to go even further and in 2006 she earned her Esthetics License and started Spa Partners (2010) , a Salon and Spa distribution company that sold Professional Skin Care Products to salons and boutiques in Maryland, Virginia and Delaware.

Heather Lins
Heather is the Director of Makeup Education and Mother to Ava (3). She is always on the go. Heather's absolute PASSION is Sweet Minerals makeup and teaching others how to apply any makeup look with ease. Heather began applying makeup on friends when she was young and in 2006 Heather graduated Esthetics and Makeup School and started working as a Freelance Makeup Artist in the MD/DC/VA area. As a Professional Makeup Artist she kept hearing people tell her that they could never do what she did. She started consulting with Makeup clients teaching them how to easily apply makeup everyday. Heather is a Founding Partner of the Brand and one of the first things she did was to create "The Flawless Face" (Concealer + Foundation + Bronzer + Blush + Veil) and "The 1-2-3 Eye Look". Heather works hand in hand with Shelley teaching Consultant's how to Party, Sweet Minerals style!
Shelley Smith
Shelley is our Director of Consultant Relations, and our direct sales guru and our rock! Mother to Tyler (25), and our two first Sweet Minerals Consultants, Jordan Smith Kerr (22, JMU Graduate and Newlywed) and Andelyn Smith (18). Shelley began in direct sales in 1987 so she could be a 'Stay-at-Home Mom" and set her own schedule. She was one of the ground floor Consultant's for a (now) 100 million Dollar direct sales company and has learned the in's and out's of being a Mom while growing a very successful and lucrative business. Shelley works directly with the Sweet Minerals Consultants to teach them how to make their businesses flourish and prosper!
Shelley first met "The Girls" at their first event together as Sweet Minerals in March of 2011. She was setup at a table nearby and watched as lines formed around the Sweet Minerals booth the entire weekend. When she saw makeover after makeover she could not believe what she was seeing. She watched women enter the booth self conscious and leave full of confidence. She swore she would never be involved selling makeup, yet after witnessing this firsthand for 2 days straight she knew that this was "it" and "it" was different, and she had to be apart of "it". A few months later Shelley's daughters joined Sweet Minerals first two Consultants and in December of 2011 Shelley joined as Director of Consultant Relations. In January 2012, Sweet Minerals held their first event as a direct sales company.
